Week 1: Story Board
The most important factor that I was considering while deciding what times to film was the time of day. For the first half of our opening scene we had to film during the night. The darkness would create the perfect menacing mood we need to create tension from the very beginning that leads into the chaos. To contrast this the second half would be filmed during the day to lift the tone and instill a light hearted mood into the audience to align with the scene.
In order to evoke certain emotions were going to be utilizing multiple different camera shots, angles, and framing during our opening. This will be particularly useful for portraying conflicts between the characters and highlight their relationships and emotions. For example, we plan to use juxtaposition framing to visually represent the separation between characters, despite their interactions. We'll also be using POV shots to allow the audience to experience firsthand what the characters are hearing and seeing. We'll also use camera angles to establish certain power dynamics and shifts.
